Phillips Neighborhood Clinic | Senior Thesis

The design for the Phillips Neighborhood Clinic was the culmination of year-long study that began with writing a thesis, which provided the foundation for evidence-based design. The design solution for this 2,700 square foot, volunteer-run free clinic in Minneapolis featured a flexible space intended to be responsive to a growing population and its changing needs. An economical space planning allowed for more streamlined clinical processes and work flow, which were critical goals. Essential services and preceptor areas were organized to alleviate stress and decrease the potential for error. A universal wayfinding program focused on nonverbal cues, such as color and line, as well as coordinated signage. The overall result was a clinic that supported volunteer caregivers and patients alike.
